How to: Save the Battery life of your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Many Apple enthusiasts spend much of their time with their devices. As a result, these devices tend to run out of battery very quickly. For this reason, we are going to let you know a few tricks, so that your device does not need to recharge every now and then.

Do not leave your Apple device in the Sun
The heat of the sun is the most common battery-killer for such devices. Therefore, do not leave your iPhone, iPad or iPod on a table under the sun, or on a hot seat of your car. If you forget to take your device away from the sun, you will end up ordering a new battery from Apple.
NOTE: Every kind of heat is harmful for your device, so the next time you store your iPhone, iPad or iPod somewhere, try a cooler place. You won’t regret it.
Reduce the Screen Brightness
This is a basic advice for every type of device. It is a fact that the more you keep the screen of your device at maximum brightness, the more you wil need to recharge it. A good solution is the reduction of the brightness, when you do not actually need it. For example, maximum brightness is not necessary and a bit annoying for your eyes, when you use your iPad at night.
  • Go to Settings and select Brightness & Wallpaper to configure the brightness that fits you.
Configure your Screen to Lock Faster
Although the brightness is now lower than the default one, you will still need to set up the righ amount of time of your screen lock, so you do not waste even a second longer from your device’s energy.
  • Go to General and choose  Auto-lock, in order to adjust the time of your screen lock. Make sure that your Apple will lock quickly.
When you don’t need Internet Connection, use Airplane Mode
This advice refers to iPad and iPhone users. If you want to spend many hours doing an activity with your Apple device that doesn’t require an Internet connection, you should better use Aiplane Mode. This will disable the Wifi and the wireless radio of your device. We should warn you though that using Airplane Mode will prevent you from receiving any phone calls.
This is very helpful trick, when you are located somewhere with good Internet connection. In these kinds of areas your device will probably try to search and establish an Internet connection. This process will definetely require most of your battery.
  • In the upper side fo your Settings’ screen turn the Airplane Mode switch on.
Use Wifi instead of 3G
Wifi can save more battery energy than 3G. Even Apple advised its customers to prefer Wifi from 3G. Furthermore, the company estimated that an iPad owner that uses Wifi regularly will have to recharge the device after 10 hours. If he/she uses 3G connection, the battery of the iPad will drain after 9 hours. The same fact applies to iPhones too. IPhone batteries will be exhausted after 10 hours of Wifi using, but when you use 3G, the battery will end after 6 hours.
  • Turn on the Wifi switch in the Settings section and then select the network you want to connect to.
Reduce or Stop Mail Calendar Check
In case you work with many emails, your calendar and their contact accounts that are checked frequently and downloading mails regularly will help to drain your battery’s energy very quickly.
  • Go to the Mail, Contacts, Calendar section of Settings and select Fetch New Data. There configure the check time to be as long as possible. As a result, you will not check your mail so often.
  • On top of that, you can choose to check your mails manually by turning the Push switch off.
Reduce or Stop Push Notifications
If you want to save your Apple device’s battery life, you will need to understand that notifications from apps like Twitter are not so important to receive automatically. Therefore, you can either select the notifications you want to turn off, or turn all of them off by disabling the Push switch, found in the Notifications section of the Settings.  After this, you will not be updated from these apps and you will save a bit of your battery.
Reduce or Stop System Sounds
Well, if you want to save every last bit of your battery, you could disable the system sounds of your Apple device.
  • In Settings go to General and then select Sound, so that you turn your system sounds off.
Disable Location Services
If you do not need the location service, you can disable it by turning the Location Services off. The switch can be found in the General section of your device’s Settings. You will be able to save a great amount of battery life with this.
Disable Bluetooth
In the General section of Settings you could also disable your bluetooth. You should do it, if you are not using a bluetooth keyboard or headset.
Disable Vibrate Feature in Games
Although this feature is pretty useless, you could still disable it only if you are are playing video games very often, because it will exhaust your battery quickly.
Discharge and Charge Frequently
You will have to discharge and recharge your Apple device for at least once a month, in order to maintain its efficiency and keep your battery alive. You should also ensure that the battery, stored in your device, is not already discharged, because recharging it will weaken its charge capability. Therefore, make sure that you recharge your device, before its battery dies.
That’s it! These are a few of the most important tricks you can apply to your iPhone, iPad or iPod, so you can save its battery life.
